Branding toolkit

The design concept of the branding is based on the principle: "The future is built upon the past."

The modern city of Liverpool is built upon the foundations of its past but it is not a museum. It must be allowed to grow dynamically and remain a city with vitality, protecting and respecting the most significant features from the past but also creating, sustainable new buildings which express the spirit of the day, seamlessly and harmoniously.

The aspiration is that the high quality contemporary buildings will become modern heritage.

The six distinctive areas of the World Heritage Site still function in different ways and have discrete visual characteristics, which can be traced back to their original roles. The look and feel of the branding reflects this concept by raises awareness of those six World Heritage areas.

Find out which area you are in by viewing our interactive map.

A 'design toolkit' has been developed which reflects the individuality of each of the areas and yet also unifies these areas of the city as a whole. From the toolkit, you are able to pick and choose the elements you need in order to make up a design which suits your needs.
