Heritage Trails
Several fascinating heritage trails around Liverpool have been, and will be, created to help guide visitors around the city whilst looking at specific subjects.
1. Museum to Museum - A Trail of Culture and Commerce
This self-guided trail has been developed to guide pedestrians between the cultural attractions at William Brown Street and those at Albert Dock, taking visitors through the historic commercial district rather than through the shopping centre. 2. Sculpture Trails around the World Heritage Site
Two sculpture trails around the WHS are being developed by The Friends of Liverpool Monuments with support from Liverpool City Council, English Heritage and the Civic Trust. 3. Discovery Trail Around the World Heritage Waterfront
An interactive video discovery trail around the World Heritage Waterfront is being developed by Cut To The Chase Productions on behalf of Liverpool City Council, the Liverpool Culture Company and English Heritage. It will be posted on this site as soon as it is ready.
4. Cycle Trail Around the World Heritage Site
This circular self-guided trail was has been developed specifically for cyclists to enable them to be visit most of the key sights in one visit, starting and finishing near the Pier Head. 5. Walk of Faith
This self-guided trail takes visitors on a journey into the many religious communities and different sites of worship across Liverpool, including the Anglican Cathedral and the Catholic Cathedral. 6. Liverpool Home of the Beatles
This self-guided trail takes visitors around many of the sites around Liverpool City Centre that were closely associated with The Beatles. Access the trail from Beatles pages of the Liverpool 08 site.
7. Irish History Trail
This self-guided trail takes visitors to sites across the city (and one in Birkenhead) where there is a monument or plaque commemorate the Great Irish Famine (1842-55) and its effects on Liverpool. 8. Slavery Tours
These two tours around different parts of the city centre can be self-guided, or can be enhanced by the knowledge and personal insights of an experienced guide. For further information, visit:

9. Music Trails
Guides around the sites associated with Liverpool's musical heritage can be downloaded and printed or transferred and played on a portable MP3 player from the Liverpool 08 website.
10. World Heritage Trails
An audio guide around Liverpool - Maritime Mercantile City World Heritage Site has been recorded by Lloyd Grosman and will soon be available to be downloaded and played on a portable MP3 player.
11. Blue Badge Guide Walks
Liverpool's Blue and Green Badge guides offer a variety of planned guided walks around different parts of the city. Alternatively, they can arrange bespoke tours by prior arrangement. For further information, visit:

12. Pevsner Walks
The excellent Pevsner Architectural Guide to Liverpool (ISBN 0-300-10258-5) by Joseph Sharples and Richard Pollard was partially funded by English Heritage and is available from all good book shops.
It describes the architecture and history of all of the main buildings in the city, describes streets in the city centre alphabetically and contains 10 walks around the city centre.
13. University of Liverpool Architecture Department tour
The Architecture Department at the University of Liverpool has developed an interactive trail around parts of Liverpool which are in the World Heritage site. To follow the trial visit www.liverpoolarchitecture.com/tours/index.php
