In 2017, Liverpool was one of ten European cities to successfully bid for Horizon 2020 funding to examine how cities can use heritage as a powerful engine for economic growth.

Liverpool is one of the Role Model cities in the ambitious ROCK programme (Renewable Heritage in Creative and Knowledge Economies).

It is providing mentoring to other cities as well as developing a programme aimed at raising awareness of the city’s unique assets and developing community engagement around its Maritime Mercantile World Heritage Site.

ROCK funded activities will include initiatives to increase participation such as a citizen/youth board, volunteer programmes and social and wellbeing projects hosted at the Grade I listed St George’s Hall.

Follow the development of the programme on the ROCK project website.
